Louisiana studies the issue of raising the age of juvenile court jurisdiction.

A new report explores the feasibility of raising the age of juvenile court jurisdiction in that state from age 16 to age 17 in Louisiana. The report was commissioned by the state legislature and released in January of 2016. In the wake of the study raise the age legislation was introduced.  Louisiana joins New York in studying the issue with detailed recommendation reports and North Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin as having reform proposals introduced over the past year.
